Reeva Forman, chair of Temple Israel, will receive the newly dedicated Bertie Lubner award for communal leadership at the Gauteng Conference of the SA Jewish Board of Deputies on August 15th. The UK and commonwealth Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis will be the keynote speaker at the conference, to be held on the 15th of August 2016 at the Sandton Shul Hall at 19:30. The hilarious Harry Sideropolous will be the host of the evening. The conference will also pay tribute to the late Dr Melville Edelstein who tragically lost his life during the Soweto Uprising 40 years ago. A memorial to Dr Edelstein was unveiled in Soweto on June the 16th this year and it is now our community’s turn to honour this remarkable man. Conference booking: sajbd@sajbd.org
