JTalk topic: Olga Kirsch, Jewish poet who wrote in Afrikaans

Following the service on Shabbat mornings, Beit Emanuel hosts an interesting and informed speaker on a thought-provoking topic. Sessions run for approx. an hour starting at 11.15 am. Speakers over the next three weeks:

18 October – Andries Wessels will discuss The Jewish/Afrikaans poet, Olga Kirsch, who was a cultural and political outsider on the one hand and a beloved and esteemed poet on the other.

25 October – Dan Brotman – Can I bring my partner…? Dan will share his personal journey into LGBT activism.

1 November – Prof. Merle Williams, Prof. David Bilchitz & Adina Roth – ‘Wandering through Jewish Text’ – Three outstanding lecturers of the Melton School in conversation with text and each other.
