The star international speakers at Limmud in August this year include.
Rabbi Dr Michael Marmur
is a renowned teacher, writer and researcher on Jewish topics, and Provost of the College-Institute in Jerusalem. He recently completed a study of the philosophy of the renowned progressive American Rabbi Abraham Heschel – famous for marching arm in arm with Martin Luther King – who will be the topic of one of his talks. Other talks will be on prospects for peace in Israel, and the future of Judaism in Israel.
Tal Grunspan
is a Progressive Jewish activist on human rights and environmental issues in Israel, and an advisor to a member of the Knesset. He achieved prominence in 2011 as one of the leaders of the “Tent Protests”. He will talk about the tent protests, provide an inside view of the workings of the Israeli political system, and also talk about yoga – he is a qualified yoga teacher.
Dr. Sarah Bernstein
is an accomplished international speaker, She runs the Jerusalem Center for Jewish-Christian Relations (JCJCR and also specialises in inter-religious dialogue between Israelis and Palestinians. She will speak about peace building in Israel and Jewish-Christian relations in the Holy Land.
Rodger Kamenetz
is the author of the international best-seller ‘The Jew in the Lotus’, which explores the connections between Judaism and Buddhism, and ten other books of prose and poetry, including ‘The History of Last Night’s Dream’. He won the National Jewish Book Award for ‘Stalking Elijah’, where he talks with spiritual teachers exploring the new landscapes of Jewish practice. In ‘Burnt Books and Parables of the Soul’ he explores the works of Rabbi Nachman of Bratzlav and Franz b Kafka.
