Two of the star international speakers at Limmud in August this year are Progressive Jews.
Rabbi Dr Michael Marmur
is a renowned teacher, writer and researcher on Jewish topics, and Provost of the College-Institute in Jerusalem. He recently completed a study of the philosophy of the renowned progressive American Rabbi Abraham Heschel – famous for marching arm in arm with Martin Luther King – who will be the topic of one of his talks. Other talks will be on prospects for peace in Israel, and the future of Judaism in Israel.
Tal Grunspan
is a Progressive Jewish activist on human rights and environmental issues in Israel, and an advisor to a member of the Knesset. He achieved prominence in 2011 as one of the leaders of the “Tent Protests”. He will talk about the tent protests, provide an inside view of the workings of the Israeli political system, and also talk about yoga – he is a qualified yoga teacher.
Limmud will be held at the Indaba Hotel in Fourways, from Friday 29 August to Sunday 31 August. To register visit www.limmud.org.za
