The 7th annual Limmud SA Johannesburg Conference will take place at the Indaba Hotel in Fourways on the 9,10,11 August 2013. There is truly something for everyone at Limmud, from young to old, from religion to tikun olam, from politics to meditation, from history to dance, from literature to music.
Limmud has become one of the most anticipated events on the communal calendar. Be sure to be at Limmud this year, be it for the whole weekend, or the Friday, and Sunday.
The sessions run from early in the morning till late at night, and there is choice every hour. There will also be Progressive services on the Friday night and Saturday morning.
There are also crèche facilities and a Young Limmud programme, with activities run by our own Netzer Madrichim.
International presenters include:
Simja Dujov is an internationally-acclaimed young composer, singer and instrument player of klezmer, gypsy and world music mixed with new styles and a strong Latin flavour. He comes to us from Buenos Aires.
Daniel Sieradski is a New York-based activist and digital strategist. In 2011, he organized a Yom Kippur service at Occupy Wall Street attended by over 1,000 people and built the first “tent” in Zuccotti Park the police allowed to remain standing: A sukkah.
Local presenters include David Bilchitz, Robert Ash, Sa-ar Shaked, Diane Fine, Lewis Levin, Dora Wynchank and Melinda Silverman.
