First AGM of SACRED held next Friday at BE

SACRED’s mission is to provide a progressive Jewish voice on relevant social, moral, ethical and religious issues in South Africa; to counteract religious discrimination in all its forms; to advance freedom of religion and to promote fundamental rights and freedoms through advocacy, activism, scholarly contributions to public discourse and public interest litigation. Whilst we are motivated by our Jewish values, we aim to be working for civil rights and social justice throughout South African society.
We are keen to hear suggestions of people who may be suited to SACRED’s mission, but who may not have heard of the opportunity.
Further information is available by contacting Charlotte Fischer at or visit the website,
SACRED is affiliated to the SAUPJ, but it is intended as a resource and support, an advocate and co-ordinator for all lower case ‘p’ progressive ideas, ideals and values for all South Africans. Torah commands: ‘do not stand idly by the blood of your brother’. Our commitment through SACRED is to act; for brothers, for sisters, for women and children, for sexual minorities and for all the vulnerable of our society as a voice for progressive values, human rights, equality, and justice.
SACRED AGM: Beit Emanuel, 38 Oxford Road, Parktown, on Friday 8 June 2012 at 3.15 p.m.
