It has become a tradition at Beit Emanuel to offer a public lecture at Shavuot by a high profile speaker. Previous guest speakers have been Professor Anton Harber and Mr Imtiaz Suleiman, founder of Africa’s only ‘home grown’ aid agency, Gift of the Givers.
The public lecture on the evening of Shavuot will be given by Public Protector Advocate Thuli Madonsela. Getting such a high profile speaker to come to Beit Emanuel has been something of a ‘coup’ for us. Please publicize this important event widely among your friends.
The lecture will be followed by a light supper of dairy foods.
The Shavuot lecture this year will be on Tuesday evening 7 June after the festival evening service which begins at 6.00 p.m.
All are invited. It would help for catering if you would let us know that you would like to attend the evening by phoning or emailing the synagogue office on 011 646 6170 or [email protected]

And if you can spare an occasional Friday night helping us keep the grounds safe during services, please speak to John Sheriffs.
