Adult Education Programme – 11.45 a.m. – 12.45 p.m. – Youth Lounge
This week Lewis Levin will discuss: ‘Squares and Spirals: a personal journey through Jewish Sacred geometry.’
Talmud Study – 12.45 p.m.- 2.00 p.m. (latest) – Youth Lounge – Talmud Study, tractate Berachot, using the new Koren Hebrew/English edition of he Talmud.

Join Netzer at the zoo on Saturday for Tikkun Olam

Tikkun Programme Launch: Saturday 15 June 2013
Netzer’s Tikkun Olam for Grades 3 – 12 – social action programme is launching this June with our opening activity, to prepare for our Tikkun-programme, at the Jo’burg Zoo with Netzer (and the giraffes).
Early Bird Tickets: R15 (purchase from the Netzer team before Friday Madness services) or on the day: R30.
Meet at Beit Emanuel at 1:30 p.m. or at Bet David at 1:10 p.m. to be at the Zoo by 2:00 p.m. sharp. Activity ends at 4:00 p.m.
It is important to attend this event in order to take part in our Tikkun Program throughout the year. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Chavura Service this Friday

The Johannesburg Egalitarian Chavura meets once a month at Beit Emanuel for an alternative service.
Enjoy a warm relaxed atmosphere, participating in the singing and even in the interactive sermon led by Prof. David Bilchitz.
The next Chavura Service will be held this Friday, 14 June 2013 at 6.30 p.m. in the classrooms.

Office closed on public holiday, 17th June

Please note Monday 17 June 2013 is a Public Holiday (Youth Day Sunday 16 June 2013), therefore the Synagogue Office will be closed.
No Religion School on this day.
Emergencies will be dealt with as they usually are after hours, on weekends, public and Jewish holidays.

One Night of Song – Resounding Success!

Congratulations to Avi Kanar and the Beit Emanuel Choir on their sterling performance at Beit Emanuel on Sunday Night, 2 June 2013. The ‘One Night of Song’ turned out to be a resounding success with audience attendance far exceeding expectations.
Thank you to all who attended and to everyone who contributed towards this wonderful evening which we believe is just the beginning of many more communal and cultural events to come!
