Irwin Manoim continues his series on the history of Progressive Judaism in South Africa by returning to the beginning. He has discovered letters from Lily Montagu in London, personal reminiscences by founders AZ and Jerry Idelson and other materials which shed new light on forgotten people, controversies and events, with implications still felt today.
