A sad farewell to Emmy our beloved Shul Cat

A cat – what does it say? ‘You may fly high like the eagle. You may make your nest among the stars. But I will bring you down from there, said the Lord” (Song of Creation chapter 3 , Obadiah 1:4)

Dear Friends,

A few months ago we informed you that our beloved Shul-cat Emmy was diagnosed with Leukaemia. We promised to give her the best care possible and that we would inform you of any improvement. Many of you kindly contributed towards the cost of her medical treatment.

Today, following the Vet’s advice, we had to put her to sleep. It had reached the phase that death was more merciful than life.

Emmy came to live at Beit Emanuel 11 years ago, after being the family cat of Hazel Hochschild, Simon’s mother. She had long and calm life, was well loved and very much a part of our Shul life. She will be missed by all of us. Wishing for better news to share with you, Rabbi Sa’ar.
