Paula Slier gets second journalism award from Vladimir Putin

Paula Slier, daughter of long-time members Lionel and Alicia Slier, has been recognised for a second time by Russian president Vladimir Putin for her “colossal input into the development of Russian journalism and for her professionalism in covering issues of paramount importance.” Paula received an appreciation certificate award signed by Putin at a ceremony at the Kremlin. Paula is the Middle East Bureau Chief for RT (Russia Today) and heads up her own television company in the Middle East called Newshound. She recently spent several months reporting from Eastern Ukraine – on several occasions she reported while under gunfire. She has also covered the growth of Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, a topic she spoke about at a well-attended recent JTalk at Beit Emanuel..
