Mancom Talk: Mark Seberini on shul security

Mark Seberini – Shul Security

Greetings everyone.

As I’m sure you’ve noticed, security at the Shul is in the process of being beefed up, from an upgraded fence, to CCTV cameras, passive sensors and volunteer guarding over Shabbat, High Holy days and various events.

It is important that when you come to Shul to know you are in a safe place and that you feel safe and know that your children are as well.

Over the next 6 to 8 weeks there will be a drive to try and recruit more volunteers from the community to assist with security and there will also be training that our friends at the CSO have designed to help us work correctly with the right procedures etc.

Please remember, the security functions we perform are not politically or ideologically motivated. We live in troubling times here is SA and it’s important for people to know that we aren’t an easy target.

I am proud to say that the small crew of volunteers that we currently have, have performed very well and the new procedures we have implemented are working well.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the crew for their time and dedication to the safety and security of the Shul – they are:

Steve Bloom, Michelle Coetzer, Steve Greenblatt, Graeme Hochschild, Simon Hochschild, Russell Hollander, Levi Jerome, Willie Jones, Steve Katzenstein, Herb Lewis and Ray Sher.

If you are keen to join (and remember, the more volunteers we have, the less duties you will need to perform) please get in touch with either Ilana or myself.
